Keepsafe alternative
PicVaultPro vs Keepsafe
Keepsafe is one of the oldest photo vault apps. PicVaultPro is built around encrypting every photo on your device before it uploads, with no ads, a web app and encrypted partner sharing.
Hiding photos vs encrypting them
A PIN or fingerprint lock keeps people out of the app. The question that matters if a server is ever breached is who holds the key to the files. Keepsafe says it uses military-grade encryption but does not publicly say who holds the keys.
PicVaultPro encrypts each photo and video on your device with its own random key, unlocked by a password only you know. We hold no key that can decrypt your photo and video contents.
Where Keepsafe is the better pick
- Lower price: Keepsafe Premium starts at $23.99 a year.
- A long track record, on the App Store since 2012.
What PicVaultPro can and can't see
Your photo and video contents are encrypted on your device before upload, and we can't read them. We can read metadata: file names, capture time and location, file type and size, and the album, tag and people names you create. Optional face recognition runs on PicVaultPro's servers. Full details are in our privacy policy.
